Terms and Conditions

WolfRope Shibari | Kinbaku

for in-person classes and events of WolfRope Shibari | Kinbaku

As of: 28 October 2026

Translation for information only. The contract language is German. This English translation is provided to help you understand the terms; in the event of any discrepancy, the German version (www.wolfrope.de/agb) is legally binding (§ 4 (5)).

§ 1 Provider, scope

(1) The provider and contracting party is:

Thorsten Mann – WolfRope Shibari | Kinbaku
Gritznerstraße 9
76227 Karlsruhe, Germany
Email: mail@wolfrope.de
Website: www.wolfrope.de

(2) These General Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to contracts for participation in in-person formats offered by WolfRope, in particular trainings, workshops and theme weekends, Kinbaku Salons, beginners’ courses, Kinbaku series and private individual or couple lessons. They also apply to the purchase of vouchers for these formats. They also apply to workshops that WolfRope offers at fairs or events organised by third parties (fair and event workshops); attending the fair or event itself is subject to the terms of the respective organiser.

(3) For goods, separately charged digital content, performances, photo shoots or other services, these Terms apply only if the respective service description expressly refers to them.

(4) An individual agreement as well as the specific service description and booking confirmation take precedence over these Terms. Deviating terms of the booking party apply only if WolfRope has expressly agreed to them in text form.

§ 2 Definitions, couple bookings and contracting parties

(1) The “booking party” is the person who makes the booking. They become WolfRope’s contracting party and owe the full price stated for the booked unit.

(2) “Participants” are all persons taking part in a format. In a couple booking, this includes the booking party and the companion named by them. Naming the companion does not oblige the companion to pay the couple price.

(3) In a couple booking, “Shibarite” refers to the person tying and “Ukete” to the person being tied. Where the service description allows a change of roles, the terms apply to the role exercised at the time.

(4) The booking party ensures that their companion receives the service description, these Terms and the safety and house rules applicable on site in good time. Each participant must personally accept the safety, consent and house rules before participating. WolfRope may refuse participation as long as this acceptance is missing.

(5) If the booking party books a date as a gift (“gift booking”), they name the recipients when booking; their names appear on the tickets. The recipients become participants, not contracting parties. The booking party remains the contracting party and liable for payment; only they can cancel, rebook or transfer a place. Paragraph 4 applies to the recipients accordingly.

§ 3 Subject matter and scope of services

(1) The type, content, location, dates, duration, target group, required prior knowledge, booking unit, total price and any additional services are set out in the respective service description and the booking confirmation.

(2) Multi-part courses and series are uniform overall services. Their dates build on one another in terms of content and are not booked as independent individual events.

(3) Where times are stated as “hours”, these are clock hours of 60 minutes. Breaks count as class time only if this is expressly stated in the service description. In case of doubt, the start and end times stated there are decisive.

(4) WolfRope owes the professional delivery of the described service, but not any particular personal, artistic or technical learning outcome.

(5) Drinks and small snacks that WolfRope provides at individual formats are a voluntary extra and not part of the booked service; there is no entitlement to them. Allergies or intolerances communicated in good time will be taken into account within reasonable limits; a completely allergen-free environment cannot be guaranteed.

§ 4 Booking and conclusion of contract

(1) The presentation of a format on the website, on social media, in messages or in other publications is generally an invitation to submit an offer and not yet a binding offer by WolfRope.

(2) By submitting a booking via an online booking process or by registering unambiguously by email or message, the booking party makes a binding offer for the specified service. For online bookings, the submission of the offer subject to payment must be confirmed via a correspondingly clearly labelled button.

(3) The contract is concluded when WolfRope confirms the booking in text form. For online bookings, this is done by the order confirmation sent automatically by email after the payment process has been completed successfully. For registrations by email or message, the contract is concluded with WolfRope’s express confirmation. The mere reservation or authorisation of a means of payment does not constitute acceptance.

(4) If a payment is collected before the offer is accepted and WolfRope does not accept the offer, the amount will be refunded without delay via the means of payment used.

(5) The booking party receives the order confirmation and these Terms on a durable medium, usually as an email with attachment. The contract language is German. For bookings via the English-language website, the booking party additionally receives an English translation; the German version is legally binding.

(6) Before an online booking is submitted, the checkout shows all details and the order summary. Input errors can be corrected until then in the input fields and in the cart. WolfRope stores the contract text. The booking party receives it with the order confirmation; with a customer account, they can view their orders there at any time.

§ 5 Prices, instalments and late payment

(1) For consumers, total prices are stated including statutory VAT and all unavoidable price components. For couple bookings, the stated price applies to the couple unless a price per person is expressly stated.

(2) Due date and method of payment are set out in the service description and the booking confirmation. Unless otherwise stated, the total price is due within seven calendar days of receipt of the booking confirmation; for bookings made within seven calendar days before the start, immediately.

(3) If payment by instalments is agreed for a course or series, this serves solely to spread over time the total price owed upon conclusion of the contract. The individual instalments are not fees for separately booked modules. The agreed due dates are set out in the booking confirmation.

(4) Payment may be processed via the payment service providers stated in the booking process. Return debit or chargeback costs actually incurred and attributable to the booking party may be charged in the statutory amount. Proof that no or significantly lower costs were incurred remains possible.

(5) In the event of late payment, the statutory provisions apply. After an unsuccessful reminder and a reasonable grace period, WolfRope may refuse further participation until outstanding amounts have been paid or exercise its statutory rights to terminate the contract.

§ 6 Requirements for participation, consent and safety

(1) Participation is permitted for adults only. By booking, the booking party warrants that they and all participants they name or give the booking to as a gift will be at least 18 years old at the time of the event. WolfRope may require presentation of an official photo ID on site and may refuse participation if proof of legal age is not provided; § 12 (3) applies accordingly.

(2) The professional, physical and other participation requirements stated in the service description are binding. If in doubt, WolfRope must be consulted before booking.

(3) Shibari and Kinbaku are physically and emotionally demanding practices in which injuries cannot be completely ruled out even with careful conduct. This does not release WolfRope from its own statutory duties of protection, care and safety.

(4) Each participant decides on their own responsibility whether an exercise is suitable for them and may skip, modify or end an exercise at any time. Boundaries and a withdrawal of consent must be respected at any time, without any reasons having to be given. Consent once given does not extend to other or later acts.

(5) Participants must follow the safety instructions of the instructor and must not participate if their perception, ability to react or ability to consent is significantly impaired, in particular by alcohol, drugs, medication, fatigue or other circumstances.

(6) Relevant functional limitations must be communicated to WolfRope before the start to the extent necessary for a safe adjustment or assessment of participation. A diagnosis does not have to be disclosed. In case of doubt, medical advice should be sought in advance.

(7) WolfRope may prohibit, adapt or stop individual exercises if this appears necessary for reasons of safety or consent.

§ 7 Change of Ukete and replacement couple

(1) In a couple booking, the Ukete may be changed without additional charge after prior notice and with WolfRope’s consent. The new Ukete must meet all participation requirements and accept the safety, consent and house rules. A change of Ukete is not a cancellation.

(2) Due to the learning progression geared to the Shibarite, a change of Shibarite is not considered a mere change of partner. It is only possible as a transfer of the booking approved by WolfRope or as a replacement couple in accordance with the following paragraphs.

(3) The booking party may name a suitable replacement couple. The naming should take place in text form no later than 24 hours before the start. A later naming may be accepted if checking and organisation are still possible. The replacement couple must meet all advertised requirements.

(4) For a course or series that has already started, a replacement couple is only permitted if, in WolfRope’s assessment, it has an equivalent level of knowledge and joining is compatible with the safety and teaching concept.

(5) Until WolfRope expressly confirms a transfer of contract in text form, the original booking party remains the contracting party and liable for payment. Any private settlement with the replacement couple is a matter for the parties involved.

(6) If a replacement couple accepted by WolfRope takes over the booked place in full, the cancellation fee does not apply. The same applies to the extent that WolfRope can otherwise reassign the vacated place against payment. A merely partial reassignment is credited against the fee.

§ 8 Statutory right of withdrawal

(1) For contracts concerning the trainings, workshops and theme weekends, Kinbaku Salons, beginners’ courses, Kinbaku series and private lesson dates offered here, which are fixed to a specific date or period, consumers have no statutory right of withdrawal pursuant to § 312g (2) no. 9 of the German Civil Code (BGB), because these are services related to leisure activities.

(2) The booking of such a date is therefore binding upon conclusion of the contract. The contractual cancellation options under § 9 remain unaffected.

(3) For vouchers not tied to a date, or other services to which the statutory exception does not apply, the statutory withdrawal rules apply. WolfRope provides separate withdrawal instructions together with a model withdrawal form before the contract is concluded and, for contracts concluded via an online interface, provides the legally required electronic withdrawal function.

§ 9 Contractual cancellation by the booking party

(1) Irrespective of any statutory right of termination or rescission, the booking party may cancel their booking in accordance with this provision. The cancellation must be declared in text form, in particular by email to mail@wolfrope.de. The time of receipt by WolfRope is decisive.

(2) For trainings, workshops and theme weekends as well as Kinbaku Salons, the following fees apply, each based on the total price of the cancelled booking:

Receipt of cancellation Cancellation fee
14 or more calendar days before the start of the event 0 %
7 to 13 calendar days before the start of the event 50 %
0 to 6 calendar days before the start of the event or no-show 100 %

For fair and event workshops (§ 1 (2)), the following fees apply instead; a replacement couple can be named in accordance with § 7:

Receipt of cancellation Cancellation fee
14 or more calendar days before the start of the event 50 %
0 to 13 calendar days before the start of the event or no-show 100 %

(3) For private individual and couple lessons, the following fees apply, each based on the price of the agreed date:

Receipt of cancellation Cancellation fee
48 or more hours before the start 0 %
24 to less than 48 hours before the start 50 %
less than 24 hours before the start or no-show 100 %

(4) For the beginners’ course and the Kinbaku series, the following fees apply before the start of the first class date, each based on the total price of the course or series:

Receipt of cancellation Cancellation fee
more than 56 calendar days before the first date 10 %
29 to 56 calendar days before the first date 25 %
15 to 28 calendar days before the first date 50 %
0 to 14 calendar days before the first date 100 %

(5) After the start of the beginners’ course or the Kinbaku series, the booking party may terminate the contract with effect for the future by way of contractual cancellation. In this case, the fee amounts to 100 % of the agreed total price. Payments already made will be credited; overpaid amounts will be refunded. WolfRope waives any further contractual claim arising from the cancellation.

(6) Merely staying away from an individual date of a multi-part format does not terminate the overall contract. If a complete class date is not attended, the price component attributable to that date (total price divided by the number of class dates of the booked format) remains owed. The obligations for the remaining dates continue. In the case of only partial attendance or leaving a date early, there is no claim to a pro-rata refund.

(7) For each fee, the booking party is expressly permitted to prove that WolfRope has suffered no damage at all or significantly less damage. Saved expenses and income from reassigning the place will be credited.

(8) Personal reasons for being unable to attend, such as illness, professional obligations, childcare problems or traffic disruptions, generally do not affect the cancellation fees. If the booking party invokes a statutory right of termination for health reasons, WolfRope may request a medical certificate on the expected duration and extent of the inability to participate; stating a diagnosis is not required.

(9) Mandatory statutory rights of withdrawal, rescission, price reduction and termination remain unaffected. If a statutory right of termination exists, the remuneration is governed by the statutory provisions and not by the above cancellation fees.

(10) A cancellation may be limited to individual booked places or couples (partial cancellation). The fees under paragraphs 2 to 4 are then calculated from the price of the cancelled places. A price reduction granted only for the joint booking of several dates or places no longer applies to the extent that its conditions are no longer met after the partial cancellation.

(11) At the request of the booking party, WolfRope may rebook a booking to another date or another format, provided places are available there; there is no entitlement to this. If the request is received 14 or more calendar days before the start of the booked service, the rebooking is free of charge. If it is received less than 14 calendar days before the start, the rebooking is treated as a cancellation under paragraphs 2 to 4. The amount not forfeited is credited to the new booking as a voucher under § 17. A higher price must be paid in addition; a lower price remains as a remaining balance on the voucher.

§ 10 Missed dates and make-up

(1) Due to the progressive curriculum, there is no entitlement to make up a missed date of a course or series in another group, to a repetition of the date, to substitute lessons or to a recording.

(2) Depending on availability, WolfRope may offer a make-up date or private substitute lessons on separately agreed terms. There is no entitlement to this.

(3) If a participant has missed essential basics, WolfRope may make their participation in later exercises conditional on the missing knowledge being made up beforehand in a suitable manner. Further rights under § 9 and § 12 remain unaffected.

§ 11 Contract term and statutory termination

(1) A single format ends upon completion of the booked date. A course or series ends upon completion of the last agreed date without the need for termination.

(2) Ordinary termination of a course or series concluded for a fixed term is not provided for. The contractual right of cancellation under § 9 remains.

(3) Mandatory statutory rights of termination, in particular termination for good cause under § 626 BGB and – where its requirements are met in the individual case – the right of termination under § 627 BGB, remain unaffected. The remuneration consequences of an effective statutory termination are governed by law.

(4) A termination may be declared at least in text form. Where WolfRope is legally obliged to provide a termination button, the declaration may additionally be made via the function provided on the website. Other legally permissible means of declaration remain possible.

§ 12 Exclusion from participation

(1) WolfRope may exclude a person temporarily or permanently from an event if they
a) do not meet the participation requirements,
b) violate safety, consent or house rules significantly or repeatedly,
c) are recognisably not sufficiently able to perceive, react or consent,
d) harass or endanger other persons or significantly disrupt the class, or
e) do not follow a justified safety instruction.

(2) Before an exclusion, an opportunity to remedy the situation will generally be given, unless immediate action is required due to an immediate danger, a serious violation of consent or the unreasonableness of continuing.

(3) If the excluded person culpably caused the reason, the booking is treated financially as if it had been cancelled under § 9 at the time of the exclusion. Proof of no or significantly lower damage remains possible.

(4) If the exclusion is for a safety reason that was not recognisable when the contract was concluded, without the person concerned having breached any obligation, the price share attributable to the services no longer provided will be refunded.

(5) If, in a couple booking, the exclusion affects only one person, the other person may only continue to participate with a substitute permitted under § 7. If this is not possible, paragraphs 3 and 4 apply to the couple booking accordingly.

§ 13 Minimum number of participants, cancellation, postponement and changes by WolfRope

(1) Unless the service description for a group format states a different minimum number, it is three couples. No minimum number applies to private lessons expressly booked as individual or couple dates.

(2) If the minimum number is not reached, WolfRope may cancel a training or a Kinbaku Salon up to 72 hours before the start, a workshop or a theme weekend up to seven calendar days before the start, and a multi-part course or a series up to 14 calendar days before the first date. After the respective deadline, no cancellation will be made solely due to insufficient bookings.

(3) Irrespective of paragraph 2, WolfRope may also cancel or abort an event later if illness or absence of an instructor who cannot reasonably be replaced, force majeure, official measures, unavailability of the premises or other circumstances for which WolfRope is not responsible make it impossible or unreasonable to hold the event. WolfRope will inform the booking party without delay.

(4) In the event of a complete cancellation, WolfRope refunds the price paid for the cancelled service via the means of payment used. If part of a course or series is cancelled, the price share attributable to it will be refunded. Instead of a refund, WolfRope may offer a replacement date, a rebooking or a voucher. This applies only if the booking party expressly agrees; without such consent, the price is refunded. A replacement date should take place within six months of the cancelled date.

(5) Minor and reasonable changes to the schedule, content, premises within the same region or the instructors involved are permitted if the overall character and purpose of the contract are preserved. If a particular instructor is expressly designated as an essential part of the booking or if there is any other significant change, the booking party may accept the change or withdraw free of charge from the part of the contract not yet performed.

(6) Claims for reimbursement of travel, accommodation or other consequential costs are governed by § 16. Participants are advised to choose cancellable travel and accommodation services.

§ 14 Accompanying learning area and materials

(1) Where a digital learning area is provided for an in-person course or series, it serves exclusively to accompany the in-person classes. It contains information, videos and voluntary exercises on topics already covered in the in-person classes and serves to repeat, consolidate and deepen them. No new learning content is taught through it; a separately bookable online course is not owed.

(2) Content should generally be unlocked only after the respective topic has been covered in the in-person classes. The learning area replaces neither attendance at the in-person classes nor a missed date.

(3) The duration and technical scope of access are set out in the service description. Access data are personal and may not be passed on to third parties.

(4) Class materials and content created by WolfRope may be used within the statutory limits for one’s own non-commercial practice and further education. Any further reproduction, publication, distribution, public communication or use for one’s own teaching or sales offers requires WolfRope’s prior consent.

(5) Temporary, insignificant restrictions due to maintenance or disruptions that cannot be completely avoided for technical reasons do not give rise to further claims. Mandatory statutory rights, in particular regarding the provision of digital products, remain unaffected.

§ 15 Photo, video and audio recordings; discretion

(1) Own photo, video or audio recordings during class are only permitted with the prior consent of the instructor and of all persons recognisably or audibly recorded. Class procedures, demonstrations and explanations may not be recorded in full or continuously.

(2) Recordings of one’s own rope work may be used for private purposes, provided that no rights of other persons and no rights to class materials are infringed. Publication is only permitted if all recognisable persons have consented beforehand and no confidential content or protected class materials are reproduced.

(3) WolfRope only makes and publishes targeted recordings of recognisable participants for advertising or documentation purposes on the basis of separate, voluntary consent or another legal basis. Participation may not be made dependent on advertising consent that is not necessary for the contract.

(4) Personal information about other participants that becomes known within the protected setting of an event must be treated confidentially. This applies in particular to information about relationships, sexuality, health, boundaries and individual experiences.

§ 16 Liability

(1) WolfRope is liable without limitation for damage based on intent or gross negligence on the part of WolfRope, its legal representatives or vicarious agents.

(2) WolfRope is also liable without limitation for damage resulting from injury to life, body or health based on an intentional or negligent breach of duty by WolfRope, its legal representatives or vicarious agents.

(3) In the event of a slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual obligation, liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for the contract at the time of conclusion. Essential contractual obligations are those whose fulfilment makes the proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on whose compliance the booking party may regularly rely.

(4) Otherwise, liability for damage caused by slight negligence is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

(5) Liability under the Product Liability Act, under an assumed guarantee, for fraudulent concealment of a defect and in other cases of mandatory statutory liability remains unaffected.

§ 17 Vouchers

(1) WolfRope offers value vouchers for a monetary amount and experience vouchers for a specific format. Vouchers are valid only for dates of WolfRope.

(2) A voucher is credited at its value against the price applicable at the time of booking; any difference must be paid. An experience voucher can only be redeemed for the format named on it.

(3) A remaining balance is retained until the end of the validity period. A cash payout is excluded unless paragraph 7 or mandatory statutory claims provide otherwise.

(4) Vouchers are valid until 31 December of the third year following the year of issue; the date is stated on the voucher.

(5) Purchased vouchers are transferable and not tied to an email address; anyone who knows the code can redeem it. It should therefore be kept safe like cash. Vouchers resulting from a cancellation, an event cancellation or a rebooking are tied to the email address of the booking party.

(6) On request, WolfRope sends a purchased voucher by email on a chosen day at 8 a.m. to the recipient address provided, with a copy to the purchaser. The purchaser is responsible for the correctness of the address. The contract is concluded with the order confirmation, regardless of the delivery date.

(7) With the consent of the booking party, a refund amount under § 9 or § 13 may be issued as a voucher. Such a voucher will be paid out on request until the end of its validity in the amount of the value not redeemed. A share of a cancelled booking, or of a booking cancelled by WolfRope, that was paid with a voucher is returned as a voucher.

(8) There is a statutory right of withdrawal for the purchase of a voucher in accordance with the separate withdrawal instructions. Upon withdrawal, the voucher is blocked. If it has already been redeemed in whole or in part, the service booked with it remains in place; its price is offset against the amount to be refunded.

(9) A voucher does not confer any entitlement to a specific date or a specific instructor unless this has been expressly promised.

(10) A voucher entitles only adults to participate (§ 6 (1)).

§ 18 Data protection

(1) Personal data are processed for the initiation and performance of the contract, payment processing and event-related communication. Further information, in particular on the booking and payment service providers used, the learning area and data subject rights, can be found in WolfRope’s current privacy policy.

(2) Health-related information is only collected to the extent necessary for safe performance or for processing a right asserted. Where possible, information on functional limitations or the duration of an inability to participate is sufficient; a diagnosis is not required.

(3) The booking party should only transmit personal data of a companion or gift recipient to WolfRope with that person’s knowledge.

§ 19 Consumer dispute resolution

WolfRope is neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

§ 20 Applicable law, place of jurisdiction and final provisions

(1) The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. For consumers, this choice of law applies only to the extent that it does not deprive them of the protection of mandatory provisions of the state of their habitual residence.

(2) For consumers, the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply. The exclusive place of jurisdiction for disputes arising from the contractual relationship is Karlsruhe if the booking party is a merchant, a legal entity under public law or a special fund under public law, or has no general place of jurisdiction in Germany, insofar as such an agreement is legally permissible.

(3) The version of these Terms incorporated at the time of conclusion of the contract applies. Later changes apply to a contract already concluded only if they have been effectively agreed or are required by law.

(4) Should individual provisions of these Terms be or become invalid, the remainder of the contract remains valid. The invalid provision is replaced by the statutory provisions.
