From the floor into the air – safe, conscious and with clear technique. Your first full suspension is a milestone in Shibari practice and a moment that demands trust, technique and responsibility in equal measure. In this 6-hour workshop, you will get to know all the fundamental topics of suspension and suspend yourselves, at the ring and on bamboo.
What to expect
The content:
- Equipment: ring and bamboo as suspension points
- Zuri techniques: attaching suspension lines correctly
- Safety measures at the suspension points
- Static suspensions: basic techniques for a safe build
- Safety and anatomy: keeping an eye on weight distribution, nerves and circulation
The focus is not on a spectacular result but on the safe way there:
- How do you read Ukete’s body?
- How do you distribute weight without endangering nerves or circulation?
- When is the right moment to release ground contact completely?
Particular attention is paid to communication throughout the entire process. Ukete learns to consciously perceive their own body in suspension, recognise changes and communicate them clearly. Shibarite learns to read these signals and adapt the build safely at any time.
This is how the core principles emerge that carry every future suspension: line guidance, balance, timing and the ability to stay calm and in control even at height.
