Shibari safety workshop at WolfRope

Shibari Safety Workshop

Tying safely means knowing what to do in an emergency. Many have theoretical knowledge – but how confident are you when it really counts? In this 6-hour workshop, we cover all safety-relevant topics holistically, from the perspective of both Shibarite and Ukete, in theory and practice.

What to expect

Anyone who practises Shibari will sooner or later face these questions:

  • Where may ropes be placed, and how do the nerve pathways run?
  • Which areas of the body are particularly sensitive?
  • How does anatomy differ from person to person?
  • How do you communicate clearly and trustfully with each other?
  • Which practical tests reduce the risk?
  • What do you do in an emergency, for example if Ukete loses consciousness or panics in suspension? And how do you manage your own panic in that moment?

The key topics:

  • Before tying: preparation and agreements
  • Anatomy: critical zones and individual differences
  • Equipment: choosing and caring for your gear
  • Safety tools: different cutting tools compared and used in practice
  • Emergency response: clear steps for critical situations
  • Aftercare: restoring safety and well-being after an emergency

You will practise hands-on: you experience emergency situations yourselves and train the recommended procedures, right up to cutting ropes.
