Illuminated shoji screen with bamboo motif at the WolfRope Juku

WolfRope Juku

In Japan, 塾 (juku) originally meant the teaching room in the teacher’s own house: a sheltered place where knowledge is not taken from books but passed on from hand to hand. For WolfRope, no word better describes what happens in his space in Karlsruhe-Durlach. This is where people learn, practise and tie, with calm, respect and a deep closeness to the rope.

How the Juku came to be

WolfRope has been captivated by rope since 2014. Before long he wanted not only to live this fascination but to share it. In November 2015 he founded the Bondage-Stammtisch Karlsruhe, and his teaching began with the first “rope taster” sessions. Demand from the community grew, and with it the wish for a place where Shibari could truly have room.

In 2016 the WolfRope MiniDojo Durlach came to life in WolfRope’s apartment. It was small but lovingly furnished, and for many it was their first encounter with rope.

After WolfRope moved in 2021, the new space became the WolfRope Juku (狼 縄 塾). The new name was a deliberate choice: it expresses the deep bond with the Japanese roots of Kinbaku that shape WolfRope’s tying and teaching. Since then the Juku has become a place many love to return to. Trust and connection grow here, and sometimes a new, intense passion begins here.

The space

The Juku is furnished in Japanese style and fully laid with tatami. It offers:

  • 6 tying stations with bamboo and ring
  • 5 Hashira stations
  • Air conditioning, so it stays comfortable even in summer

Workshops are limited to six couples. That leaves time for everyone, and room to tie.
